The Stir Crazy Showcook Chef Challenge – a unique culinary event.

Step into the exhilarating world of the Stir Crazy Showcook Chef Challenge, where culinary creativity meets fierce competition!

Each month we select two talented up-and-coming chefs to compete against each other and each chef is assigned two student chefs from Stir Crazy Cooking to assist them with the competition. The object of the competition is to win the favour of our esteemed judges—you, our guests.

As a guest, you’ll indulge in an unforgettable evening of gourmet creations, tasting each meticulously crafted dish from two competing chef teams. You’ll be presented with ten exquisite tasting plates and be required savour each chef’s creativity and judging which dish is the best for that course. You therefore won’t just be enjoying a 5-course dinner—you’ll be an integral part of the competition, casting your vote to help decide which team delivers the most extraordinary dish at each stage. Each dish is a new adventure in flavour, presentation and innovative techniques.

The Stir Crazy Showcook Chef Challenge debuts in February 2025. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this exhilarating culinary showdown, where you hold the power to shape the event’s outcome.

Judge for R750 per person.

Included in your ticket is a unique culinary experience of 10 tasting plates and a few extra items presented at your table. Excludes drinks and gratuities.

Competing Chefs

STIR CRAZY ADVANCED COURSE STUDENTS

Three times a year, Stir Crazy Cooking runs a Certificate in Advanced Cookery, training chefs from all over the world in finer culinary skills, guiding chefs with advanced skills ranging from advanced techniques to menu planning and plating. Among our most recent cohort of talented chefs are Tia and Jacques, whose distinct backgrounds and passions have made them stand out as truly remarkable culinary artists.

Tia, a yacht chef progressing into more refined culinary skills, brings a unique perspective to the kitchen, infusing her dishes with a meticulous attention to detail. Jacques, on the other hand, a trained butler and hospitality veteran discovered his culinary calling after a few life-changing career exchanges including working on airlines, private housekeeping and cooking. Both Tia and Jacques share a common drive: to push the boundaries of culinary artistry and create memorable dining experiences. Throughout the rigorous Advanced Cookery program they've refined their technical expertise, collaborated on innovative menu concepts and consistently impressed instructors with their dedication and creativity, proving they are well on their way to leaving their own unique mark on the culinary world.

ROYAL ST ANDREW CULINARY DUO

Meet Yaeesh and Masud, two dynamic Executive Sous Chefs, both under 25, making waves at the Royal St. Andrews Hotel in the Eastern Cape. Their paths to culinary excellence share common ground in a foundation built at Cooktastic Hospitality and honed through the Superyacht Culinary Academy in partnership with Stir Crazy Cooking School.

Yaeesh discovered his passion early, propelled by discipline and a genuine love for feeding people. He seamlessly blends his hotel responsibilities with a thriving private chef career, catering to Cape Town’s elite with tailored culinary experiences. Further showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit, Yaeesh has consulted for two restaurants, creating menus and kitchen systems. He believes food can be transformative, a tool for storytelling and connection, striving to create an impact one plate at a time.

Masud, at 23, took a more serendipitous route into the culinary world finding his love for cooking blossom over time. A pivotal experience at the prestigious Beyond Restaurant in Cape Town ignited his appreciation for the depth and creativity that food can offer. Alongside his hotel role Masud excels as a private chef, crafting bespoke dining experiences that reflect his unique personality. He sees food as a means of growth, connection, and sharing a piece of himself with every dish he presents.

Together, Yaeesh and Masud exemplify the next generation of culinary talent driven by passion, innovation, and a desire to create meaningful experiences through food.

Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the event will forfeit the course fee.
We occasionally post pictures of our courses and participants on social media. Please advise if you would prefer us not to upload pictures of you.
