Who Is This Course For?
The Advanced Mixology and Bartending course provides students with the knowledge and understanding of how to prepare classic and modern cocktails and to present them to discerning clientele. This course covers everything from the history of cocktails, methodology of preparing drinks, practical pour routines, spirit infusions, making and storing syrups and how to prepare and setup your bar station.
This course is recommended for:
- Barmen, waiters, hospitality staff and managers
- Chief Stewardesses, Stewardesses and Chefs
- Training staff and students
This course offers practical learning in a working bar environment. This includes practical demonstrations, theory and hands-on practical participation, working with recipes and ingredients provided.
The assessment takes place in a ‘live’ customer environment and candidates are required to prepare, make and present at least three cocktails from each specific area of competency, all of which will be validated in an interactive service environment.
This is not a registered certificate course – candidates are presented with a Certificate of Attendance.
TQT (Total Quality Time) is an estimate of the total amount of time, measured in hours, that a learner would reasonably need to be able to show the level of achievement necessary for the award of a qualification. It is made up of GLH (Guided Learning Hours) and private study time. GLH includes all tutor-supervised learning and supervised assessments.
The TQT for the Mixology and Bartending Course is 24 hours. This is made up of 16 GLH and 8 hours private study.
On completion of the course, students will have a broad knowledge of the following:
- Practical application of bartending and mixology in a workplace environment
- Organise and execute set-up, preparation areas, mixing areas, service and cleaning areas in the correct method and techniques to meet customer and organisational requirements
- Apply safety and hygiene practices
