A macaron is simply a meringue-like cookie made with ground nuts but requires expert guidance and patience to perfect them. Julie Willer will show you how to create these little treats and fuse them together with rich cream or ganache in various flavours and colours. In France, macarons are viewed as an artistic canvas as well as a cookie, with creative bakers churning out these jewel-like confections in flavours as wide ranging as balsamic strawberry, espresso and even salted caramel. Each Macaron can sell for up to R25 a macaron!
